More Info

Lithium Hydride Anhydrous, highly hygroscopic, appears as a white or bluish-gray translucent crystalline or powder. It reacts violently with water to produce lithium hydroxide and hydrogen gas. With oxygen or chlorine at high temperatures, it forms hydroxides or chlorides. With nitrogen, it produces amides, imides, or nitrides. In ether, it reacts with aluminum chloride to form lithium aluminum hydride. Lithium is obtained at the cathode during molten electrolysis, while hydrogen gas is released at the anode.

Lithium Hydride (LiH) Applications

Used as a desiccant to absorb moisture.

Used as the most effective neutron shielding material.

Used as a condensing agent and reducing agent in organic synthesis.

Used as a good hydrogen storage material.

Lithium Hydride (LiH) Safety Information

It can cause strong irritation and corrosion to skin and mucous membranes.

Inhalation can lead to sneezing, coughing, difficulty breathing, and bronchitis.

Eye contact can cause conjunctivitis or burns, and it can also burn the skin.

It should be tightly sealed and stored away from heat and ignition sources in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, separate from oxidants, acids, and alcohols.

Personnel should use dust respirators and rubber gloves.

Lithium Hydride (LiH) Packing

Lithium Hydride (LiH) should be stored in a sealed container in a dry and cool place, unexposed to air for an extended period. Nanochemazone offers a 2-ply PE inner layer and an outer aluminum-plastic vacuum-sealed packaging including 100g/bag, 500g/bag, 1kg/bag, and 25kg/drum, or customized according to specific requirements.
