Lithium Bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (C2F6LiNO4S2) has the appearance of a white crystalline powder. It is usually used as a lithium salt of organic electrolyte for lithium-ion batteries because of its high electrochemical stability and conductivity, and no corrosive effect on aluminum collector under high voltage.

Lithium Bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide Applications

As lithium battery organic electrolyte lithium salt: Used as lithium salt of organic electrolyte for lithium-ion batteries, it has high electrochemical stability and conductivity. And it has no corrosive effect on aluminum collectors under higher voltage. EC/DMC is used to formulate l mol/L electrolyte solution. The conductivity is up to 1.0×10-2 S/cm. at -30℃ the conductivity is still above 10-3 S/cm. This is extremely important for military applications.

As reaction catalyst: Used to prepare rare-earth Lewis acid catalysts for organic catalytic cracking, hydrocracking, catalytic reforming, isomerization, olefin hydration, toluene disproportionation, alcohol dehydration, and acylation.

Preparation of ionic liquids: Used to prepare important room temperature ionic liquids.
